It is not in the job description to do so, but the employee understands that it is in the company’s best interests to do these tasks and so he or she does them.
To have the maximum level of employee engagement, businesses need to hire employees who are qualified for the job as well as passionate about the task for which they are hired. Yes, you can get the same results from an unhappy employee just as well as a happy one, but your business is more likely to have more engaged employees if they want to be working for you.
The first way in which any business can determine the level of employee engagement is to take a look at the finances of the business. If you find that your profit margins are declining while your practices and procedures have not changed from when you were meeting your desired profit margins, then the odds are that you have an issue with employee engagement.
Secondly, research your customer feedback. Disengaged employees and non-engaged employees are sure to bring the overall face of the company down. A simple internet search of your business’s social PR will reveal how customers feel about your business. Unfortunately, if your social PR is negative your business will have to work twice as hard to repair it then in preventing it from occurring.
